Juliana

  •  School
    •  4th grade, using BJU Press "video" school here at home. (She watches her lessons, presented by a variety of teachers, on her own computer, but still completes the work in actual workbooks, not on the computer.)
    • Her favorite subject at the moment is Science. Her least favorite is Spelling.
    • She is doing well, and requires very little help from me anymore. This spring she took a national standardized test, scoring better than I hoped she might (PHEW!!) except in one area. (Don't worry, this is funny.) One of the optional tests was on "Listening Skills", and she pretty much tanked that one. It is not surprising--to develop listening skills, one has to stop talking once in a while.  We don't know what God has planned for her future, but we're fairly certain it will involve some serious talking abilities.
  • Favorites:  Swimming, spending time with friends, decorating cakes, playing outside, having weenie roasts, and listening to music.
  • Milestones: After a long time of saying, "I'm not ever going to do that," Juliana decided that she wanted to be baptized after hearing our Pastor preach on the importance of demonstrating your faith to others through baptism. In September, in front of some friends and family that she invited, Dustin had the privilege of baptizing her.
  • Health: Although rarely sick, she had pneumonia this summer, and she just started orthodontics work to correct a developing under-bite. After having 2 teeth pulled a month ago, she now has a mouth-full of apparatus, and within a month will add a head-gear that she will wear almost constantly, even when she sleeps. She'll have this for 6-12 months. We had hoped this might decrease the constant jabbering....yeah, no such luck. The jabbering just sounds like it's coming from a mouth-full of marbles now.
