Clayton

  • School
    • First Grade, also using the BJU Press "video" school.
    • He also really likes Science--about a month ago he (fake-ish-ly) cried after realizing he had just watched the last of his Science lessons. (BJU 1st Graders do half a year of Science, and half a year of Heritage Studies.)  He has a thirst for knowledge, especially if it involves taking something apart and figuring out how it works. He's not so good at putting things back together.....properly at least. He's a fast learner (when he's paying attention) and is exceptionally generous.
  • Milestones
    • This year both Clayton and Jules started mowing our yard. There is nothing to set a mother's heart to instant and intense fear like putting their own (very young) flesh-and-blood on top of a self-powered life-and-limb-shredding monster, and letting them drive it around the yard for 4 hours. Every week. It was a growing experience....ok, yeah, mostly for me. They did a good job, and earned enough money to pay over half of their mower off. They're looking forward to next year when they'll (hopefully) actually make some money.
  • Favorites
    • Playing baseball and swimming in the summer.
    • Building things, taking things apart, and growing things. He will take whatever seeds he can get his hands on (mostly from the food we eat...like grapefruit, avocado, peaches, and apples) and go bury them in the yard somewhere.
  • Health
    • He stepped on a nail in the barn over Memorial Day weekend and nearly drove it clean through his foot.
    • He also has a developing under-bite and had 4 teeth pulled in preparation for future orthodontic work, with 4 more planned for removal sometime this year. You know he is all-Binder when he is trying to convince me that teeth pulled by the dentist should be worth way more (from the Tooth Fairy) than ones that just fell out. Of course he's also tried to convince me that chocolate and potato chips (not necessarily together) qualify as healthy snacks.
